Korean Ground Beef Bowl

A delicious dinner that is reminiscent of your favorite Korean bbq. Done and on the table in 15 minutes!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef I like 85/15 fat
  • 1/4 white onion, diced
  • 1/4 cup + 1 tbsp soy or tamari sauce can use coconut aminos, but add salt to taste if you do
  • 1/4 cup + 1 tbsp packed light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp minced garlic
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp orange juice
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper can add 1/2 tsp if you like spice
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1 cup steamed broccoli
  • green onions, diced, for garnish optional

Instructions

  • Place your ground beef and diced onion in a large pan over medium heat. Let cook until nicely browned, about 8 minutes. Drain off the fat.
  • While the beef is cooking, mix the soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, sesame oil, ginger, orange juice, red pepper and pepper in a small bowl. Pour into the pan over the ground beef and let simmer for 3-4 minutes until sauce has slightly thickened.
  • Put some rice in the bottom of a shallow bowl. Top with broccoli and lastly, top with the ground beef. Make sure to spoon a little sauce over the bowl as well. Sprinkle with green onions and red pepper flakes.
