1loaf day old french bread, cubedabout 8 cups
2cupsmilk
4 eggs
1tspvanilla
1tspcinnamon
1/2tspnutmeg

For the caramel bourbon sauce
1stick butter
1/2cupbrown sugar
1/2cupheavy cream
1tbspbourbon
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350.
Place your cubed bread into a large bowl. In a separate medium bowl, whisk the milk, eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg 1/2 cup of sugar and bourbon. Pour the milk and egg mixture over the cubed bread and fold it over and over to fully coat the bread. If using raisins, add them now and fold in. Let sit for a few minutes. Combine the dusting sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
Lightly grease a 7x11 pan. Pour the mixture into the pan and lightly press down to create an even top. Sprinkle with the cinnamon and sugar mixture. Bake for 35-40 minutes.
While that's baking, make the sauce. In a medium saucepan, combine all of the sauce ingredients. Whisk the whole time. Bring to a light boil and boil for 2 minutes. Then remove from heat. Pour over the bread pudding and enjoy.
