Football Rice Crispy Treats

Hello loves,

Who else loves football?! I grew up in Husker nation so game days are always a huge deal for us! Tailgating is its own sport and viewing parties have to have good food. What’s better than football shaped rice crispy treats? A grab and go treat that’s not messy and is festive.

These football shaped rice crispy treats are made with cocoa crispies and yes, I add more cocoa powder to the mix to make the chocolate pop and to give these beauties that football color that is necessary. If you’re like me, you didn’t already have a football shaped cookie cutter. However, Amazon came in clutch and had them delivered the next day. If you’re a football fan it really can’t hurt to have these shapes on hand!

Football Rice Crispy Treats

Chocolatey, ooey-gooey and festive for game day! Really simple to make and everyone will love!

Ingredients

  • 7 tbsp unsalted butter
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 bag mini marshmallows
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 box cocoa crispies
  • 1 pouch of white frosting with a tip from store, any variety; I use cream cheese frosting

Instructions

  • Put a piece parchment paper down in a quarter sheet jelly roll pan (12.5"x9" and 1" high) or something of similar dimensions.
  • In a large pot over medium-high heat melt butter and add salt. Once melted, reduce heat to medium-low and stir in marshmallows, vanilla extract and cocoa powder. Stir until melted and smooth. Add cocoa crispies to the pot and stir to evenly coat. Pour into prepared pan. Smooth it out with a spatula but don't press down too hard. Let cool at room temp for about an hour. Then use the cookie cutters to cut out football shapes. Draw laces, 1 line horizontally and 4 lines vertically. Enjoy!

These are stored great at room temp for up to 3 days in an airtight container! So yummy! Looking for other game day treats? My buffalo chicken chili is a crockpot fave, jalepeno poppers are always a good idea or my stuffed cheesecake bites if you’re looking for something sweet! That was one of my first recipes on the blog… time to refresh those pics. haha Happy football season!

Be sure to tag me if you make this @tessa_port!
