Hello darlings,
There are some dishes that take you back to your childhood. Actually, a lot do if you have a parent that likes to cook! My mom cooked everything from scratch (and still does) and she definitely taught me to do the same thing. I remember her making everything from chicken and dumplings to all the sweet treats and yes, scalloped potatoes.
Classic scalloped potatoes are kinda hard to beat… creamy, cheesy, starchy, oniony, etc. etc. Does it get much better? Not really. They also happen to pair nicely with pretty much any meat choice which makes them the perfect companion to any main dish. Although, I won’t judge you if you take a fork to the whole dish of these like I did. You only live once.
This is the type of side that is as perfect for a weeknight meal as it is a special occasion. My classic scalloped potatoes (au gratin potatoes) will make you feel all warm and cozy and take you back to simpler times. It also couldn’t be an easier dish! Ten minutes hands on and then they get popped in the oven!
