Hello loves,
As a mom of one with another on the way, I thought a post about what to put on a baby registry would be helpful. Having lived and learned, there are things that I would’ve done differently in terms of registry requests.
Unpopular opinion here but a pack-n-play isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Unless your main use of it is keeping your child (that weighs under 30 pounds because there is a weight limit) in a safe place while you shower or are cooking dinner, it’s not necessary. Sure you might be thinking, “aren’t they incredibly versatile though for travel? They can be a play pen or a crib!” Sure, that is true. But um, did you read the above fact that they have weight limits? As the mom of a tall kid, he very quickly outgrew the traditional pack-n-play. Also, I never really put Charlie in a pack-n-play while I was doing things as a “safe play space.” I always let him be on the floor, working on his crawling skills or walking with a walker. So to me, they’re not all that useful and even though they are affordable (which is a factor of course) we ended up wasting money on them. Instead, the travel crib below is my recommendation! It has no weight limit because the mattress is on the ground, it has mesh sides for breathability, it’s so compact and light weight making it perfect for travel plus would totally work if you needed to put the baby down for 10 minutes while you shower. Just give them a couple safe toys to play with to keep them occupied.
The Best Travel Crib
Besides the travel crib which I clearly have a strong opinion on lol most of the other things are a personal preference. Ex: swaddles. Muslin swaddles are probably the most popular and readily available if you just go to the store to pick one up. However, I found a stretchy fabric allowed me to confidently swaddle him snugly without feeling bad about the non-stretch of the muslin.
Favorite Swaddles
And now I’ll share the rest of the items that I have used over and over again and recommend!
What To Put On a Baby Registry
I’d recommend getting 2 of those striped changing carriers (comes in other patterns as well) and keep one in each car! Keep it stocked with diapers, wipes and diaper ointment. Makes it one less thing you have to think about when leaving the door. Speaking of leaving the door, check out my post Traveling With Baby Checklist post I did! All the things you need when traveling.
Last thing, YOU GOT THIS MAMA!!!
