Hello my loves,
Below is the menu from our Friendsgiving 2021. Filled with all the classics, some with twists!
Here are all the details on our Thanksgiving tablescape!
Let’s start with the sweet potato casserole. This recipe has the creamy, sweet potato filling that we all know but I’ve topped it with both a nutty, brown sugar topping and marshmallows for extra deliciousness. So, so good. Trust me.
Stuffing or dressing is another classic and the only twist I did on it this year was using half baguette as my recipe calls for and then replacing the other half with King’s Hawaiian Roll bread crumbs. It gave a touch of sweetness to this savory dish that was subtle enough to not distract from the classic flavor but appreciated.
My grandma’s cranberry salad had to make an appearance as well. This is a yearly Thanksgiving menu item.
For the turkey this year I used the same cheesecloth method that I’ve used before, it really keeps the bird juicy. The key here is to baste the turkey every 30 minutes. Some people say basting too often can dry it out. I’m here to tell you that is not the case, especially when using the cheesecloth method. It keeps the juices running and creates the most tender, juicy turkey. It’s often my most praised dish at the table. And please don’t skip the sage gravy!! It’s so good and so easy to make with a fat separator.
My pumpkin pie. If you’ve made it before, you know. If you haven’t, your Thanksgiving meal is about to get better. Lots of spices in my pie keeps it from being basic and boring. This recipe is best for a 9″ pie dish.
My twist on pecan pie this year was pecan pie cheesecake bars. They are all the things you love about a creamy cheesecake and pecan pie in one. Truly delicious, you will love them!!
I am so happy with how our Thanksgiving Menu 2021 turned out! Can’t wait to hear and see your favorites. Be sure to tag me @tessa_port.
