Joe and I love bbq’ing. When I don’t know what to make for dinner, bbq almost always ends up being the decision. Chicken, steaks, ribs, shrimp….you name it. Who can resist the taste of a sweet and tangy bbq sauce smothered on their meat? Well, I suppose vegans and vegetarians, that’s who. But I’m not about that life so here is my favorite recipe for a sweet and tangy bbq sauce with an oh-so-slight kick of heat. (You can totally omit the cayenne if you don’t want any spice!)
Sweet and Tangy BBQ Sauce
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups ketchup
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon molasses
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground mustard powder
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne
Directions:
- Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil and then reduce to a simmer. Let simmer for 1 hour to fully combine flavors, stirring occasionally.
- Let cool at room temperature and store in an airtight container. I use mason jars.
And that’s it! Again, so so easy. And what a hit they’ll be! This one is super versatile, you can use it on anything. I like it on my chicken breasts and wings. But great on ribs as well. This is one of those recipes you can make without having to pay too much attention to it. Which makes it perfect for big bbq’s where you have 10 other things you need to be doing.
Hope you love this as much as I do!
