Hello loves!
As the days start getting shorter and the temperatures get chillier, all I want to do come sundown is cozy up on my couch with snacks, sweatpants and either a glass of wine, a hot toddy or a cup of cider. Depending how I’m feeling. I absolutely love when the season starts to change! Fall is my favorite season so I guess it’s a good thing that LA’s Winter is really a prolonged Fall. I thought it would be fun to do monthly roundups through December (may continue into January if you guys are loving these) of my favorite movies for the season. Obviously, for October, scary movies are a must. Now, I like really scary movies. Monsters/creatures don’t really do it for me so you will find my list is made up of a lot of supernatural horrors and psychological thrillers that give a lot of jumps! (Or screams, if you’re like me!) My favorite type of scary movie is the type where you peek through your fingers and you have to put your feet up on the couch so they don’t get grabbed by the unwanted things that are undoubtedly hiding under there. 👻 Here are my top 7. Everything from Nostalgia to almost peeing your pants- I got you. Grab some popcorn and a friend because let’s be honest, you’ll want someone to grab onto.
October Movie Roundup:
Hocus Pocus.
Okay, so this one isn’t scary but honestly, it’s super nostalgic and nostalgia always gets me. I watch this at least once during the month of October. Unfortunately, it’s not available on Netflix of Hulu but is available for rent on Amazon Video and iTunes. It will also be airing on Freeform TV’s 31 Nights of Halloween a bunch. So you can record it and then watch whenever your heart desires!
Scream.
Okay, again, it’s not scary. But it definitely represents my teenage years so nostalgia strikes again. Any of them are sure to fill the void! All 4 screams are available to stream on Netflix. It’s also on Amazon Video, iTunes and will be in Freeform TV’s 31 Nights of Halloween several times. Set the tivo!
The Conjuring.
I mean, damn this movie is so good. It’s so effing scary. I would recommend not watching this alone. You need a someone to hold on to. It’s available on Netflix, Amazon Prime, iTunes, Google Play and Vudu.
A Nightmare On Elm Street.
While this movie is an older one and maybe not the scariest movie out there, it certainly gave me nightmares for years after my friend and I watched it one night when our parents were out. hehe Then we had to admit to her mom that we watched it when we ran into her room in the middle of the night crying. #truth A bit nostalgic, and the fear that it instills is so real for children, the main victim in the movie. I still can’t have my sheets tightly tucked around my feet as a 27 year old woman. I need my feet free. Available on iTunes, Amazon Prime, Google Play and Vudu.
Orphan.
This movie gives me chills. Movies that involve possession are my favorite. Really good! Available on iTunes, Amazon Prime, Vudu, Google Play.
The Last Exorcism.
I told you, I like possession movies. So good and so scary. Available on Netflix, iTunes, Google Play, Amazon Prime. Watch with someone.
The Exorcism of Emily Rose.
You see a theme, here? Terrifying and so good. Available on iTunes, Youtube, Amazon Prime, AMC and Vudu.
There you have it. My list of October/Halloween favorites! I hope this October movie roundup added a few must watch movies to your list.I think I’ll host a scary movie night soon. Sounds fun, right?! What are some of your favorite scary movies? Let me know in the comments! xx
