This month, Stage is turning October into Pink October in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Every time the hashtag #ipinkican is shared on social media, Stage is donating $1 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. You can learn more about Pink October HERE.
The pure happiness I get knowing that there are wonderful foundations out there that donate and actually make a difference in peoples lives, is incredible. I adore the movement that Stage is creating and I think you will too. Which, is why I’m sharing this with you!
As some of you know, I lost my father last year to cancer. And while it wasn’t breast cancer, I know how devastating and painful cancer is. One thing my dad and I bonded over was music. He could really rock out on the guitar! He would play and I would sing. Sometimes I’d twirl around like a little ballerina while he played Elton John….hence, my nickname, tiny dancer. There are certain songs that when I hear them, I immediately think of dad. I’m taken right back to our living room, sitting on our couch, jamming out. We went through everything together and he was without a doubt, my best friend. He always said, “Tige, (another nickname, short for Tiger T) no matter what you do when you grow up, you’re going to make people smile. You’re going to help people.” He taught me to chase my dreams whole-heartedly and with unwavering determination and strength. He still to this day, inspires me to be a better woman. To be thankful for everything I have. To love, to laugh, to sing, to be a better wife, to be a great mom (someday!), to help in any way I possibly can…and he certainly inspired me to be strong no matter what. Just like he was!
Strength isn’t something we’re born with. It’s a choice we make daily. I vow to myself, and to you, to follow in my dads footsteps and be all those wonderful things. I’d love it if you’d join me! Let’s be strong, be passionate, be kind, be loving and be positive together! I promise you, those things can get you through almost anything and more importantly, can inspire others to do the same when they need it the most. That is my #ipinkican moment. What’s yours?
