Hello darlings!
As Bachelor season is among us, and Colton is slowly earning my respect back, I’m more excited than ever for this season and all the drama that will ensue. As you might have seen on my instagram, I host weekly viewings of The Bachelor! Sometimes it’s just me and one friend, sometimes it’s a bigger group, up to 10. Either way, I never skip out on the cheeseboard because, well, we all love cheese and nothing says “It’s bachelor time” quite like a killer cheeseboard, chocolate covered strawberries and some wine. Hence, this post. Follow these steps for how to make the perfect cheeseboard and you and your guests will be happy! This would also make a fabulous little Valentine’s night-in for you and your lover. Just saying!
- Variation of cheeses. When creating a cheeseboard think of different types of cheeses. Creamy vs. hard. Pungent vs. mild. And of course, some color is always a good idea. I always have some sort of a creamy, spreadable cheese whether that’s a brie or a goats cheese. On this board, I have a blueberry coated goats cheese for my creamy, a strong 10 yr aged sharp, Wisconsin cheddar and a mild-but-oh-so-satisfying Matica cheese.
- Variation of spreads/conduits. On this board I have a tart cherry spread and dehydrated orange slices. Orange slices are my new favorite way to snack on something sweet without feeling guilty and they pair so well with the saltiness of cheese.
- Texture and crunch factor. You always want different textures to play with, besides the cheese. Nuts make for fabulous crunch factors! I have shelled pistachios and marcona almonds (a must for any cheeseboard!) There is a fig and date loaf here as well that give a nice sweetness without being too sweet. And I always throw on some olives and grapes, too!
- Meats. a couple varieties of salami is always a good idea. Different thickness levels and flavor are important here. I have a mild but rich prosciutto and a hard, peppered salami.
Basically just go to Whole Foods and explore their cheese section. Get a variety of cheeses, meats and other fun little things like nuts, dried fruits, jams and olives.
Happy Bachelor Monday, friends!
