Hey darlings,
If you haven’t read my post about goals yet, read it HERE. It’s all about personal goals I’m aspiring towards in 2018 and is very personal so, give it a read if you want to get to know me a little better. 🙂
Anywho, reading more books is one thing I want to do this year. Last year, in 2017, I read 6 books. Now, that number may be small to some and may be large to some. I have the tendency to read a few books back to back and then not touch one for 6 months. hehe guilty!
With all of the social media rabbit holes we fall in to sometimes, it can be difficult to drop the phone and pick up a good ole fashioned paperback book. But for me, that’s the only way I’ll read a book. I don’t like staring at a screen (via ebook) for that long because my eyes start to hurt. (how old am I?!) Also, who doesn’t love the smell of real book, ya know?
So, here’s a roundup of my top 3 books of 2017! I happen to sort of geek out on romance novels…I’m the girl reading a flirtatious scene, blushing and grinning like a goon. Yeah. That’s me. Now, while romance may be my favorite, the first book I’m suggesting you read isn’t a juicy romance novel.
Favorite Books OTM
- First Comes Love by Emily Giffin. (Yes, Giffin. Not Griffin.) This book…wow. I was teary eyed, sad, hopeful, annoyed, understanding and so many other emotions while reading this book. It deals with family relationships after loosing a brother/son. Now, if you read my last blog post, you know that my dad passed away last August. I found this book in the airport on my way home from his funeral. I obviously was emotional already but this book has such an honest look at death, grief, sibling rivalry and jealousy and relationships in general. Not everyone operates in the same way and this book points out the differences in people and why they’re worth not giving up on. Great read. More about everyday relationships than steamy romance. Truly a great book for anyone.
- The Singles Game by Lauren Weisberger. This book was really good. It took me a hot second to get into. But once I was in, I was hooked and couldn’t put it down. It follows a young female tennis pro, who is coached by her father, that has spent her whole life living differently from the other girls her age. We see the cattiness of other females in the highly competitive environment that is professional sports and what that life is like. The whole time you’re going back and forth with what you think she should do. It’s a nice, easy read. Not really a steamy romance.
- The Thing About Love by Julie James. Holy STEAM!!! This book had me giggling like school girl. I absolutely loved it. It follows two FBI agents who reunite on an assignment after not seeing each other for about 10 years. They have a past and although they never got physical, they had an intense attraction for one another back in the day. Miscommunication led them to not get along. So, here we are following them on this undercover case and we’re constantly being reminded of what a hunk the main guys is *swoon* and what a babe the lead girl is. It’s just…wow. If you like steamy romances, get at this! Mystery, subtle flirtation, the thrill of having to play it cool and so much bad ass-ness happening because, well, they’re FBI agents.
Those are my top 3! All of them are fantastic. I will share some of my favorite new books with you in a little while 🙂
Do you guys like to read? What’s your favorite genre?
