You guys, I had never made candied nuts before but holy cow. They are SO easy! And only 6 ingredients. Really can’t get much better than that. Not to mention, they make the whole house smell like Christmas morning. Even better. For some reason I’ve always bought them pre-made from a store. I think I thought they’d be tricky in some way? Not sure why I thought that. This happens to be a fool proof recipe so there’s no chance of a kitchen fail, here!
They make such a nice little addition to an appetizer spread. I made these for our friendsgiving. I served them warm in an adorable pumpkin dish (can buy here) and also added them to the salad and the sweet potato dish that I made. People loved them.
Easy Candied Nuts
- 16 oz pecans (1 pound)
- 1 egg white
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 3/4 sugar
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
Directions
- Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
- Put the pecans in large bowl.
- Separate egg. In a small bowl whisk egg white and water.
- Add egg mixture to pecans and stir, evenly coat.
- Combine all the cinnamon, sugar and brown sugar together in small bowl and add to coated pecans. Stir well to evenly coat.
- Spread pecans onto a nonstick baking sheet. Bake for one hour, stirring every 15 minutes to evenly brown the nuts.
- Let cool for 10 minutes and enjoy. 🙂
And there you have it! The egg white is what makes all the sugar and cinnamon stick to them. Feel free to add whatever spices you’d like! I’m totally gonna experiment with these next time and try adding some nutmeg and maybe a little ginger. The possibilities are endless you guys!!
Add these puppies to salads, potatoes, stuffing, etc. Easy versatile recipes are my jam.
Do you like simple recipes like this? Or are you more likely to just buy things like this at the store? Let me know!
