Hi there,
It’s that time of year when everyone is racing to the gym to work off the holiday sweets, starting diets and doing things like “dry January.” I think it’s great to reset your body, sometimes it’s needed! However my approach to life is always moderation. That is how I spend my entire year! Do I indulge a bit more around the holidays? Of course, I’m human. But in general I try to avoid drastic things like fad diets or giving up my nightly glass of vino after Charlie is asleep.
If I want to shock my system I’ll do a few rounds of ice bath/sauna and have an afternoon of relaxation and rejuvenation. If you haven’t ever done this before, I found a great article here by Jess Arrowsmith about the benefits of contrast therapy. Highly recommend!
Anyways, while I’m not doing any fad diet or racing to the gym (pilates 3x/week is my “goal” this year for fitness), I am going to make a conscious effort to rid my household of toxic items. That means everything like cookware, body care, laundry detergent, cleaning products etc. Trust me I know, it’s easy and affordable to keep buying the drugstore brands of body washes and lotions. It’s easy to reach for a brand name cleaning product that we’ve used for years and we know works.
But for my house, I’m ready to make the switch. There is no judgement for those that don’t do this. I’ve heard for years the effects chemicals can have on me and my health. It just sort of clicked for me now though so I figured I’d share my novice yet excited journey to creating a safer, chemical free home. 🙂 I think the best way for me to share my findings with you about this is to just update this post as I find non-toxic household items that work. So that’s what I’ll do.
Wishing you all the absolute best 2022! Here’s to a lot more time spent with loved ones, a healthy body and immune system and travel. I’m ready for iiiittt! Cheers!
