Hello loves,
Meant to post this back while I was still pregnant but here it is anyways! I didn’t list out a ton of things. I really kept my maternity purchases to a minimum because I didn’t want to spend money on things that would be used for such a short amount of time. However, below are things I would personally recommend.
Pregnancy Must-Haves
- A good prenatal vitamin. There are SO many brands out there and all claim to be the best. I have been using THESE prenatal vitamins since we decided to start trying. They caused no upset stomach, bloating, nausea, digestion issues etc. Very easy on the tummy and have everything you need besides DHA which I supplement with THESE.
- A good heating pad. This will come in handy for when that lower back pain starts acting up. Mine kicked in around week 25. There are so many different heating pads out there but I ordered THIS ONE. I love that it’s a soft pink. 😉
- Belly oils. I’ve now tried 4 different oils and truly love THIS ONE the most. The lid is annoying, not gonna lie. The little top of it screws off but when your hands are oily after application, it’s so tiny and impossible to put back on. So, I just throw the lid away when I open a new bottle. 😂 One good thing about the packaging is that because it’s not in a pump form, you really don’t waste any product. You get every last drop out of it.
- A BELLY BAND. I wear this on walks mainly but will also wear around the house if my lower back is giving me extra grief. It helps transfer weight from your lower back to your hips, helping to align your weight.
- Pillows. I have not purchased a pregnancy pillow because we have long king-sized pillows that are long enough to go between my knees and curl my arm around. If you don’t have those in your house, I’d recommend getting some. HERE are some that will do the trick! You can totally get a pregnancy pillow too but I don’t have a personal rec for that and long king-sized pillows are something you can keep on a bed all the time.
- Clothes that fit and still make you feel good. There are obviously tons of options out there! My motto with pregnancy stuff is not to buy it if I can’t wear/use it after I have the baby unless absolutely necessary. If I were pregnant in the Winter, I would buy a few pairs of maternity jeans. But otherwise flowy dresses, babydoll dresses and stretchy midi skirts. Those are my staples. Here’s a few links HERE, HERE, and HERE for some maternity looks that will totally work after baby comes and prevent you from wasting money on maternity clothes that you’ll wear for 2 months. A couple discount codes for you should you want some maternity clothes: TESSA10 at https://au.baethelabel.com/ for 10% off (Get the cotton skirts, bodycon dresses and some of the nursing friendly tanks/tops! The whole outfit in the pic above is Bae.) and TESSAXLEGOE at https://legoeheritage.com/ for 10% off (get the joggers!)
- A birthing ball. I got THIS ONE in hot pink but it comes in a ton of colors. You won’t need this right away but will be essential for third trimester to help prepare for birth. I often sit on it as a desk chair as well because I’ll do pelvic floor exercises throughout the day.
I also recommend drinking raspberry leaf tea starting around week 33-34! It helps soften the cervix to prepare for labor. *check with doctor before doing so! It’s a very natural remedy to prepare so shouldn’t be a problem but always check.*
