I get questions on the daily about what I use in my skin routine. Not gonna lie, I love trying new products. I’m constantly rotating in new things to try! The only problem with that is that I have insaaaanely sensitive skin. Like, forreal. I’m gonna share some of my skin issues so you know going forward the types of products I’ll be sharing!
I have something called eyelid dermatitis which is basically just eczema of the eyelid. When it flares up, the skin around my eyes gets red, scaly, itchy and sort of painful. It’s not cute…really, not cute. The good news is, I know how to treat it! As soon as I see a sign of it coming on, I use a prescription cream I got from my dermatologist. It was scary at first but it’s really not a big deal. That being said, eye creams are super tricky for me.
On top of my eczema, I am also extremely sensitive to added fragrance, I’m allergic to rose and possibly algae. I haven’t fully explored the algae allergy but I used a face cream once that had that as one of it’s main ingredients and I broke out in a terrible rash and my dermatitis flared up. So….probably allergic. That being said you won’t see any products with rose or algae (most likely) in it on my blog…I can use rose scented lip balm with no problem…so, that might sneak in at some point.
Anywho, here we go.
Favorite Products OTM
My skin type: I have an oily t-zone and drier cheeks.
TO KEEP MY SKIN CLEAR: True Botanicals- Clear Pure Radiance Oil. It literally stopped my hormonal breakouts in their tracks and keeps my skin super clear. I will probably use this one forever. It can be used alone for a moisturizer but I like to add a little more. It’s all organic and fragrance free.
TO ADD MOISTURE: Skin Ceuticals- Hydrating B5 Gel. This is fantastic and was recommended to me by my friend Natalie over at www.therobelifeblog.com. It has such an interesting texture. It goes on smooth as velvet and you can almost feel it getting absorbed into your skin. It has drastically helped my “glowiness” if you will. It’s fragrance free.
EYE CREAM: Dr. Organics- Manuka Honey Rescue Cream. Once I found out I had this eyelid dermatitis, I started doing a bunch of research on non-irritating eye creams. I tried probably 6 different ones over the course of a couple months. Some broke me out in rash immediately (within 24 hours) and some took a couple weeks to break me out in rash. This Dr. Organics cream is the only thing I’ve tried that works and I’ve been using it now for a couple months. It absorbs nicely so it goes really well under makeup. It’s also a multi-tasker which I love! It’s all organic and fragrance free.
NIGHT MOISTURIZER: Dermalogica- Sound Sleep Cocoon. I was gifted a jar of this (it becomes available for purchase on 3/15!) and have used it for the past 8 nights. Still relatively new but it hasn’t caused any breakouts or rashes and I wake up with glowy skin! Not to mention it has a lovely lavender scent and puts me right to sleep! It uses pure lavender oil so no added synthetic fragrance.
