Happy humpday, guys! Is it just me or are the days all mixed up this week? I swore Monday was Tuesday and today deffff feels like a Thursday. Alas, it is only Wednesday. Back to topic.
I’m sure you’re already aware but face masks can be very pricey. I’m a sucker for them, too. Unfortunately. And with the holiday season quickly approaching, I’m looking for ways I can save. These masks feel so nice on your skin and really work.
I’ve tested several diy face masks and these 3 are the ones that I actually love.
Anti-Aging, Anti-Acne + Brightening
Ingredients:
- 1/2 Teaspoon Lemon Juice: good for acne, blemishes and oily skin. It actually helps your skin produce less sebum which is what clogs your pores. Also, it’s good for brightening because of the vitamin c. It shrinks pores thanks to the citric acid and speeds of the production of new cells. Which means it helps turnover blemishes and pigmentation.
- 2 Tablespoons Green Tea: natural in antioxidants and vitamins, which helps to fight wrinkles. It kills acne causing bacteria and helps protect skin from UV rays.
- Pinch of Tumeric: known to be a medicinal spice. It’s anti inflammatory which helps with acne, eczema and rosacea. Lightens age spots, freckles, acne marks and other discolorations. (just a pinch! Otherwise your skin can get a little stained. If it does, no worries just take a wash cloth with warm water and help exfoliate it away.)
Directions:
- Mix all ingredients together in a bowl.
- Apply a layer to clean face with a cotton ball. Let dry for a couple minutes and add another layer. Repeat process until all the mixture is gone. Let the final layer sit for 10 minutes. (You can also totally save some for later use! Do at least 3 layers and any leftovers can be covered with plastic wrap and stored in the fridge!)
- Rinse off with cool water.
Anti-Aging, Anti-Acne + Glowing Skin
Ingredients:
- 2 Tablespoons Raw Honey: Naturally anti-bacterial which is good for acne, it’s also full of antioxidants which helps slow down aging. Honey happens to be super moisturizing as well. So you’ll glow! (I definitely recommend using raw, unfiltered honey when applying to your face. The cheaper filtered honey often have additives that are no bueno for your skin!)
- 2 Tablespoons Coffee Grounds: coffee helps perk you up in the morning while you drink it, it does the same thing for your skin! It helps regulate circulation and happens to be an amazing exfoliator!
Directions:
- Combine all ingredients in a small bowl.
- Use your fingertips and apply to a clean face. Let sit for 15 minutes.
- Rinse off with warm water in circular motion, massaging the coffee grounds in a bit for the exfoliation.
- Then rinse with cool water.
Ultra Hydrating, Anti-Acne + Glowing Skin
- 1/2 Avocado: omega 3 and fatty acids help deeply moisturize the skin
- 6 Oz Plain Greek Yogurt: delivers a big punch of probiotics which help ward off acne causing bacteria, has lactic acid which removes dead skin cells.
- 1 Tablespoon Raw Honey: Already said it but great for ance, aging, moisturizing and giving you that glow. 🙂
Directions:
- Mash the avocado very well. Combine all ingredients in a small bowl.
- Apply to face and neck. Leave on for 10 minutes.
- Wash off with lukewarm water.
These pics are showing the first mask! Green tea, lemon and tumeric. My skin feels sooo amazing after I do this mask. And yes, it will feel more like a toner than a “mask” but just go with it. You will love!
What do you think? Let me know when you’ve tried them!
